Unusual Posing Routines
When it comes to posing routines in competition, do you like to see straightforward posing or something a little different? Here's a posing routine by Alexander Vishnevskiy to illustrate my point. Do you find routines like this entertaining, distracting, or inappropriate for competition? Also, feel free to share any posing videos which YOU may find unique or outstanding.....or even downright SEXY!!!

Hey, Rob!
I just watched the posing routine on UTube. It looked a little ridiculous and more than a little distracting. He never seemed to stay still in one position long enough to get a good look at the muscular development. His physique was good enough that he probably looks very spectacular in a regular posing routine. (Besides, I would not throw him out of bed!)

ManOMan, I agree that while posing routines such as my example above are distracting for competition purposes, in the right venue they can be highly entertaining. I find it amazing that a guy as muscle-packed as Vishnevskiy can move with such control and grace! But would I rather see him perform a straightforward, no-nonsense posing routine? You betcha!!!

I agree with both of you guys. This routine doesn't at all showcase the muscle that's packed on his body. It was a theatrical routine, yes-- but as far as really showing off his physique (as bodybuilding competitions must do) I think it falls short.
In my opinion, MANY bodybuilders just don't know how to pose. Most all of them move WAY too quickly, robbing the audience of the opportunity to see their flexed, pumping muscle. They need to slow down, find a pose/flex that really demonstrates their size and definition, and then HOLD that pose for a few seconds (more than microseconds!). Of course, for straight bodybuilders, this is hard to do-- they just don't GET what people see in their bodies. Maybe they need to envision standing in a living room in front of their girlfriend– flexing all sexual-like. THAT would make for a HOT posing routine! :)

It was actually Eugene Mishin (who, btw, just placed Third at the Europa show in Orlando) who originally posted this video of Vishnevskiy on another Forum, calling him "the best poser ever." And while there's evidence in this video that Vishnevskiy was not performing this routine in actual competition (there's no identifying number on his posers), I've seen another clip of him doing this exact routine IN COMPETITION, which really kind of surprised me. Do judges respond favorably to this type of posing routine? If anyone out there has some insights on this matter, please share with the class!

Ronnie Schweyher immediately springs to mind along with Bob Paris as two of the finest exponents of the art of posing. If you havent seen this clip Sean, I think you will agree that it is the closest you can get to " flexing all sexual-like".
Ronnie holds his poses long enough to appreciate the full impact of his physique. So graceful and tantalizingly deliberate as to send the onlooker into a frenzy. I fell completely under his spell transporting me into a night of wild abandon!
In this clip ...

... Ronnie is described as a walking orgasm of a man!

How's this for downright sexy Rob?
Innovative, versatile, engagingly humorous and sexy. I know how I would rate him as a judge!

Rob24, great subject thanks for raising it.
Two of some of my superb guys have really boring posing routines Eric Fankhouser and Branch Warren, but the quality of their physiques more than makes up for the staid and rigid routines. Such as most muscular and front or rear double biceps.
I discovered Zoltan Toth. He's not huge, but very, very symmetrical and hits some real unusual poses, that allows one to see him at all angles and identify that he has no glaring deficiencies. He spreads himself out, so you can see how the muscles blend from one muscle group to another and how well developed he is all over., great stuff in my humble opinion.
Here is a clip

The way he starts his routine, you can see the complete development of his legs. When he transitions and stands up exposing a fine rear shot of his legs, glutes and back.

Elcsum,
Wow! Now THAT is what I call "SEXY POSING!" If I were watching Ronnie do that routine live, it would take a team of wild horses to keep me from jumping up on that stage and RUNNING MY HANDS ALL OVER THAT HOT BODY!!!! Loved it!
And ocj2007, thanks for posting that clip of Zoltan Toth. I've seen pics of this musclegod before, but I've never seen him pose. He's got great instincts for knowing what the audience wants to see, and he knows how to make smooth transitions from one pose to the next.....and very effectively! A great routine, and I'll bet the judges loved it. I know I did!

Wow, ocj---- the more I see of this guy, the more I like him! He has an amazing body and he appears to be very humble and down-to-earth. Oh, and he's also VERY SEXY! ;)

I agree that Vishnevskiy's routine is weird and distracting. I further agree that Bob Paris was a master poser. Lee Labrada also springs to mind. Some of his routines were quite lengthy and very graceful, as well as showing an amazingly ripped body. Sean is right that some bodybuilders just don't "get it" because they are too quick and you don't get the chance to really take in what they have to present. Among current bodybuilders I am a big fan of Ronny Rockel. This is power posing of the sort I really enjoy - a big man enjoying communicating with his fans. Also I have had the hots for Robert Augustin for a while now. Augustin really can pose and he lets you see his amazing musculature. Deeelishus!!
